Open race car trailers are race car trailers that do not have walls or a ceiling and leave the race car exposed to elements during transport. The main advantage of the open race car trailer is the price. Often times these trailers are a fraction of the price of enclosed race car trailers. Their functionality and storage capacities are often limited to 20′ or 24′. These trailers also leave cargo exposed to weather and road hazards which can cause damage to cargo. Most open race car trailers have tire racks mounted on the front of the trailer and winches to pull the race cars on to the trailers. These trailers come with two types of flooring, either wood plank or steel diamond plate. The wood flooring is less durable and needs to be replaced every 5 to 7 years, while the steel diamond plate, if properly cared for, lasts many more years.
